Introduction: The Flame That Ignited Social Justice
In the long and complex journey of India’s fight for social equality, very few names shine as brightly as Jyotirao Govindrao Phule fondly remembered as Jyotiba Phule. Born on 11th April 1827 in Katgun, Maharashtra, Jyotiba was not just a social reformer; he was a revolutionary in the truest sense- a man who dreamt of a just, equal, and educated society when such ideas were seen as rebellious and even blasphemous.
Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) proudly derives its ideological strength and vision from the life and legacy of Jyotiba Phule. His voice for the marginalized, his activism for women’s rights, and his fearless battle against caste oppression are the cornerstones of our party’s foundation. In every policy we frame, every voice we raise, and every cause we support, we hear the echoes of Jyotiba Phule’s mission.
Phule was born into a family of the Mali caste, traditionally considered lower in the caste hierarchy. Despite immense social and institutional obstacles, Phule pursued education — an act of defiance at a time when schooling was largely denied to the so-called lower castes and women.
He soon realized that education was not just a tool of empowerment but the first blow to a centuries-old system of social discrimination.

Rashtriya Lok Morcha envisions a society free of caste barriers, gender-based oppression, and economic disparity — much like Jyotiba Phule. His principles of social justice, universal education, and dignity of labour are deeply embedded in our manifesto.

Phule, along with his visionary wife Savitribai Phule, started the first school for girls in India in 1848 in Pune, an act that was revolutionary and widely condemned by the upper castes at the time. They were abused, boycotted, and threatened, yet they persisted.

RLM takes this inspiration forward by prioritizing universal, inclusive, and accessible education for every Indian. From free digital learning in rural areas to scholarships for SC/ST/OBC and minorities, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) is committed to making education a right, not a privilege.
"Jab tak har gaon ka baccha padh likh nahi leta, tab tak hum Phule ke sapne se door hain."
Decades before the word "feminism" entered our lexicon, Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai were living examples of gender equality. Phule not only educated women but actively fought for widow remarriage, opposed child marriage, and challenged the patriarchal practices sanctioned by religious orthodoxy.

Inspired by this, RLM has placed women’s empowerment at the heart of its policies — be it equal wages, property rights, safety, or representation in leadership.
Phule was among the first voices to call out the cruelty of caste-based exploitation, and he boldly critiqued Brahminical supremacy and its control over religious and social institutions. His book “Gulamgiri” (Slavery) exposed the roots of caste as a tool of exploitation.

This exact spirit fuels RLM’s battle against casteism, both overt and institutional. The party is committed to reserving power, not just seats — pushing for SC/ST/OBC representation not only in legislature but in judiciary, media, academia, and the private sector.

As a farmer himself, Phule understood the agony of India's agrarian communities. He spoke of land reforms, fair taxation, and dignified treatment of farmers — long before these became buzzwords.

RLM envisions a Phulevadi Bharat, where farmers are not just vote banks, but nation-builders. Through loan waivers, minimum support prices, irrigation infrastructure, and crop insurance, we are reviving the rural economy.
Phule’s call for the unity of Bahujan Samaj — the Shudras, Atishudras, Adivasis, and oppressed minorities — was decades ahead of its time. He dreamt of a consolidated political and social power that could challenge the hegemony of the elite.

RLM emerges as the modern-day vessel of that very Bahujan unity. We strive to bring together the diverse oppressed communities under one banner — not as a fragmented crowd, but as a conscious, united force.

Phule was a rationalist, rejecting blind faith, rituals, and superstition. He believed religion should never be used to dominate or divide. He openly challenged mythologies that upheld social hierarchies.

RLM, too, stands for a secular India, where every citizen’s faith is protected, but no faith is imposed. We follow Phule’s rational, scientific temper in public policy, education, and health reforms.

Phule didn’t just fight injustices — he built alternatives. He built schools, homes for widows, water tanks open to all, and wrote extensively to enlighten the common people.
RLM takes inspiration from this constructive politics — not only identifying problems but also creating institutions to solve them. From Bahujan-run cooperatives to Phule Study Centers, from community clinics to digital libraries, we are committed to institutional social reform.
